analyst. Also, I’d like to use the opportunity to propose some comparative research on cord blood.

This discussion paper will revisit Richard Titmuss’ work and its application in the field of ‘ordinary’ blood banking; look at some of the ways in which notions of altruism were applied and codified in policy, and discuss some related issues in new developments in umbilical cord banking in Europe.
