My name is Thomas and I’m a writaholic!

I was born Sven Thomas Richardsson in 1946, but changed surname to Söderqvist in 1962. On this page and the subpages listed on the right I summarize my current life and my former academic life and work, including my curriculum vitae.

I retired from the University of Copenhagen in November 2016 after more than 50 years in Academia. Originally trained in chemistry, zoology and paleontology in the late 1960s, I switched to history of ideas and philosophy of science in the 1970s.

I have spent some 40 years in universities in Sweden, Denmark, the US, and the UK. I wrote my PhD thesis on the history of ecology and the specialized in the history of the biomedical sciences. Over the last 17 years of my professional life I built up a biomedical museum (Medical Museion) in Copenhagen.

In the course of this half century in Academia, I have spent years in archives, written hundreds of articles, chapters, and books, taught thousands of undergraduate and graduate students, supervised two handfulls of phd-students, curated exhibitions, and even made a few sci-art works. In the last 15 years I have also had an active presence on social media, writing about the interface between biomedicine, aesthetics and museums, and increasingly about the genre of autobiography and memoirs.

Now I have an emeritus professor contract with my former department, Medical Museion, at the University of Copenhagen. I also have a secondary affiliation as adjunct emeritus professor in the Department of Arts and Cultural Sciences at Lund University in Sweden.

I also have a private life (surprise, surprise!) — but more about that in the forthcoming memoirs.
