Here I will discuss the usefulness of the notion of ‘nostalgia’ in my memoir work.
A 17th century word made up from the Greek νόστος (homecoming) and ἄλγος (ache), ‘nostalgia’ is usually understood as “a sentimentality for the past, typically for a period or place with happy personal associations.”
The point of departure for my reflections on the topic is the Nostalgia project at the University of Southampton.
